'Unruly Crowd' Surrounds Massachusetts Police Cruiser After George Floyd Protest

A police officer in Worcester, Massachusetts, fled on foot when an “unruly” crowd surrounded his cruiser after a George Floyd rally on June 1.

This video, released by the Worcester Police Department, shows the crowd walking toward the police cruiser in the Main South section of Worcester.

“The officer managed to get out of his cruiser and get away from the crowd,” police said. “After this escalation, the Tactical Patrol Force was called in.”

Police said tensions escalated on Monday night when an “unruly crowd” of up to 70 people began blocking traffic following a peaceful protest organized in the wake of George Floyd’s death. Police said 19 people were arrested. Credit: Worcester Police Department via Storyful
