Updated Mercedes-Benz V-Class now on sale

Mercedes-Benz has announced pricing and specification details for the new V-Class and its Marco Polo campervan sibling. The upgraded model will start from £48,285, which nets an entry-level V 220 d in Sport trim.

The V-Class is based on the Vito van, but features a more luxurious interior and sleeker looks to distance it from its commercial vehicle sibling. It’s now offered with a choice of two engines, two body lengths and three trim levels.

Both powertrains are the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel. In V 220 d form it puts out 163bhp and 380Nm of torque, while the more expensive V 300 d produces 236bhp and 500Nm of torque. Both are mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. V 220 d models cost from £48,285, while the V 300 d will set buyers back from £52,125.

Performance figures are somewhat moot on a large, seven-seat executive shuttle – but Mercedes has revealed preliminary running costs, saying that the 220 d is capable of 47.1mpg and 157g/km of CO2, while the 300 d can deliver 47.9mpg and 154g/km.

Standard and long wheelbase models are available, and the V-Class can be specified in entry-level ‘Sport’ trim, dynamic ‘AMG Line’ or high-end ‘Exclusive’ trims. All models come as standard with parking assist plus a reversing camera, 18-inch alloy wheels, autonomous emergency braking, electric sliding doors, heated front seats, privacy glass and, on long-wheelbase models, a panoramic glass roof.

AMG Line adds 19-inch alloy wheels, a bespoke bodykit, metallic paint and carbon trim. Meanwhile, range-topping Exclusive models gain massaging and reclining front seats, a 360-degree camera, radar-guided cruise control, a Burmester sound system, a fridge in the centre console and lane-keeping assist. Rear-seat entertainment packages can also be specified.

With the V-Class comes a new model of Mercedes’ camper van – the Marco Polo. It’s offered in two forms, a basic ‘Horizon’ and the full camper. Horizon models feature a manual pop-up roof, and space to sleep four, while the full camper gains an electric roof and side-mounted kitchenette.

Marco Polos are available in the same trim levels as the standard V-Class, and cost from £52,405 for Horizon models and £57,550 for the fully-specified camper.

Mercedes V-Class deliveries will begin in the late summer.
