Updates revealed for Mercedes-AMG GLC 63

Mercedes-AMG has introduced a raft of upgrades to its GLC 63 in an effort to rekindle interest in the performance SUV.

Starting with the exterior, the GLC 63 benefits from revised head- and taillight designs to breathe life into its design, while also gaining redesigned exhaust exit housings and a new 21-inch alloy wheel option. On top of that, ‘Graphite Grey metallic’ also joins the palette of colours on offer.


Inside the car, a new steering wheel has been introduced to the options list — and comes as standard on ‘S’ versions for the car. Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system features too, complete with its ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice assistant — as debuted on the latest A-Class. Upholstery options have been bolstered with the introduction of a new grey/black choice with yellow contrast stitching.

Chassis improvements have been made to improve the car’s handling, too. An electronic locking differential is now standard on all variants of the GLC 63, while ‘Slippery’ mode has been introduced to its ‘Dynamic Select’ driving mode choices to optimise the car for greasier and wet road conditions. 63 S cars now also get AMG Driver’s Package as standard — removing the car’s 155mph top speed limiter.


The GLC 63’s powertrain line-up remains the same, meaning 496bhp and 650Nm of torque in its base guise, or 503bhp and 700Nm after the upgrade to ‘S’. The former can do the classic 0-60mph sprint in 3.8 seconds before reaching its 155mph limit, with the latter taking just 3.6 to get to 60mph while being capable of a top speed of 175mph.

No word yet on full UK pricing and specifications for the updated Mercedes-AMG GLC 63, though expect a similar cost to the current car’s £66,905.
