A man has been charged with the murder of a “caring” mother who was stabbed to death in the family home she shared with her daughter.
Ivan Griffin, 23, of Ravensdale Gardens, Crystal Palace, was charged on Friday with the murder of Sabrina Mullings.
Paramedics found the 38-year-old victim suffering multiple stab wounds at the flat she shared with her daughter in Ravensdale Gardens, Upper Norwood, on Monday.
They battled to save her life for 45 minutes before she was pronounced dead.
Her sister Lorna Mullings described her as “a wonderful mother and sister”.
Speaking at her Croydon home she said: “She was a family person. She was my younger sister, we all look after each other in the Mullings family.
“We can’t believe what has happened, we are struggling to process it, it doesn’t seem real. Her daughter Hayley is devastated as we all are.
"She is struggling to take it all in. I can’t say any more I’m just trying to make sense of it.”
There were emotional scenes outside the flat where Mr Mullings had lived since last year as close friends broke down in tears.
She had recently become engaged, according to friends.
Father-of-two Rupon Miah, 25, said: “We are all shocked. She wasn’t living here for very long but lots of people knew her.”
Another neighbour added: “Most people keep to themselves around here but Sabrina was a very bubbly person. It’s very strange thinking I won’t ever not see her walk down this street again.
“She was very chatty she cared so much about her daughter, she was very proud of her. She would never talk about any problems she was having, she was always positive.”
Griffin will appear in custody at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
