UK households have just a few days left to apply for a free cash grant of £250, aimed at easing the cost of living. This financial aid is part of the government's Household Support Fund initiative.

The scheme operates by allocating a portion of funding to councils across the nation, which they can then distribute to Brits in need. Each local authority receives a different amount of funding based on factors such as the size of their jurisdiction, population, and number of vulnerable households.

The value of the voucher or grant varies by location, so it's essential to check what you could be eligible for and how your council will pay you. Families who can still access money have until September 30 to apply for this free cash grant.

The scheme is open to residents aged over 16 who are most in need, offering help with food, energy, and other household bills, as well as broader essentials. To qualify for a payment, a household must demonstrate that its income is insufficient to cover basic necessities like housing costs, utility bills, food, and other fundamental items.

The fund can also be used to assist households struggling to afford wider essentials such as broadband or phone bills, clothing, and necessary transport-related costs. Applicants will need to provide evidence to support their application.

Only those with an income of less than £20,000 and savings of less than £500 will be eligible. The maximum payment available to each household is £250.

Referral partners will also have the ability to direct applicants towards other forms of help and support that may be accessible to them.
