The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on May 1 that they had recaptured several areas from Islamic State (IS) in Tabqa, killing about 48 IS members in the fighting.
The forces also continued combing the newly recaptured areas of Mahajea, Busraba, Abu Eish and other neighborhoods in Tabqa.
Raqqa IS Being Slaughtered Silenty, an anti-IS activist group, said that SDF controlled most of the city.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also said that SDF captured old Tabqa, and reported on heavy clashes elsewhere in the city. Credit: YouTube/Hawar Agency via Storyful
