US Capitol 'Very Quiet' in Early Morning Hours After Breach by Protesters

The scene outside the US Capitol in Washington was quiet in the early hours of January 7, the day after a group of pro-Trump protesters stormed, looted, and vandalized the building.

Footage taken by radio newsman Glenn Schuck shows the Capitol building devoid of crowds at 4.30 am. “The streets are very, very quiet here,” says Schuck in the video. “There’s a curfew all night here.”

Video taken later in the morning shows the removal of barricades in front of the Capitol, providing a mostly accessible space around the building. “An astounding change from 24 hours ago,” Schuck remarks. Credit: Glenn Schuck via Storyful
