Yahoo News US missionary ‘posing as a doctor’ accused of causing deaths of more than 100 babies in Uganda
A US missionary has been accused of causing the deaths of more than 100 babies in Uganda.
Renee Bach, 35, from Virginia, wore a white coat and stethoscope to perform procedures on malnourished children despite having no medical qualifications, a lawsuit claims.
The legal action has been taken on behalf of two mothers whose children died at Ms Bach’s Serving His Children clinic in eastern Uganda.
Gimbo Zubeda and Kakai Rose, who both lost their babies, are taking legal action with the Women’s Probono Initiative.
In a statement, the organisation claims Ms Bach “was often seen wearing a white coat, a stethoscope and often administered medications to children in her care”.
It said that Ms Bach “has no training at all in medicine and that in 2015, the District Health Officer had closed her facility and ordered her to not offer any treatment to any child”.
Despite this, it is claimed Serving His Children continues to accept patients.
Ms Rose says her son Elijah was “snatched” from her arms “by the actions of Ms Renee Bach” two years ago.

A group called Non White Saviours, which has made the same allegations against Ms Bach, released photos of children it says were in her care.
In one image, a boy called Maasai is seen with scarring on his arm. Another photo shows a girl named Patricia who it says was left “permanently disfigured after a botched blood transfusion performed by Renee”.
In a statement released on behalf of Serving His Children, Christian group National Center for Life and Liberty said the lawsuit is “entirely without merit” and that Ms Bach never presented herself as a medical professional.
“Reputational terrorists are attacking Renee Bach and Serving His Children with false allegations using the platform of social media, enabling entire communities to determine guilt or innocence,” it said.

Serving His Children has deleted all reference to Ms Bach from its website.
Ms Bach went to Uganda at the age of 18 on a missionary trip and said she fell in love with the country.
It is unclear if she is still working at Serving His Children or is still in Uganda.
