US soldiers welcomed Afghan evacuees to Fort Bliss near El Paso, Texas, on August 25, footage released by US Department of Defense on September 1 shows.
The Defense Visual Distribution Service (DVIDS) said Fort Bliss was one of several military installations chosen to welcome, process and house Afghan evacuees.
The first flights, via military aircraft and commercial airlines, began arriving at the base on August 24, DVIDS said.
Up to 50,000 Afghan evacuees were to receive “support with transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support during their transition,” the DoD said. Credit: Department of Defense via Storyful
