This Is Us actress Susan Kelechi Watson has teased how her character Beth Pearson will "pass the torch" in season 6, which will serve as the final season.

The family drama's fifth season drew to a close with Beth's dance studio no longer in operation thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, while her dream of working in the arts industry seemed dead in the water.

A subsequent flash-forward sequence suggested she takes over a dance academy eventually, though, which'll be further explored in an upcoming episode that was actually co-written by Watson herself.

Asked by TVLine if Beth graces the dancefloor again, the star replied: "I don't. I pass the torch. There's some dancers in the episode, yeah, and I'm sort of passing the torch along. I do one little turn."

Could this be a poker face? Either way, she's pretty pleased with the material she produced along with co-scribe Eboni Freeman, stating: "It's pretty amazing. I think they gave us a little extra breathing room."

The Billions alumnus also went on to recall her most emotionally challenging day on set.

"Usually those days it's like, you'll go for like, 12 hours. So I probably felt tired. And then I was like, 'Girl, you gotta get up at 4, so get it together!'" she recalled.

"It's funny because with one of my most emotional scenes this season, we actually shot it — and I wrote it — and we shot it the first day of shooting. I was like, 'Oh, no,' you know? So I didn't get a lot of time to think about it, actually. Hopefully that was a good thing."

This is Us airs on NBC in the US, while Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video will carry the show in the UK from January 6.
