The leader of Hull City Council has expressed his despair at Donald Trump's success in the US Presidential Election.

As the UK and the rest of Europe woke up to the news that Donald Trump had declared a 'magnificent victory' in the 2024 Presidential Election, Cllr Mike Ross took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his views on the 45th, and now soon to be 47th US President.

Cllr Ross' X post read: "Republican rep on Times Radio says Trump has a colourful past. He's a convicted felon! Oh USA, what have you done?"

In May of this year, Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in relation to 'hush money' payments made to Stormy Daniels in the run up to the 2016 Presidential Election.

Following his re-election, as well as becoming the oldest person to be elected as President, President-elect Trump will become the first convicted criminal to hold office.
