Uxbridge Road 'attack': Man arrested on suspicion of murder after young woman collapses and dies on pavement

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a young woman collapsed and died on the pavement in west London.

The woman, believed to be aged in her 20s, was found with serious injuries in Uxbridge Road, Ealing, shortly after midday on Thursday.

Paramedics battled to save her but she was pronounced dead at the scene at 12.50pm, Scotland Yard said.

Photos taken at the scene show scores of police officers and emergency services vehicles.

A police cordon was later put up at the junction with Half Acre as an investigation was carried out.

A Met Police spokesman said: “The death is being treated as unexplained at this early stage.

“A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He has been taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.”

The woman’s next of kin has been informed a post-mortem will take place in due course.
