V&A Museum security guards may strike in pay row
Security staff at the esteemed Victoria and Albert Museum in London, employed by an external contractor, are currently casting votes to decide on potential strike action amidst disputes over pay. This follows on the heels of their colleagues at both the Natural History and Science Museums carrying out protests for six days over the same issue, impacting visitors during school half-term and Halloween.
Members of the United Voices of the World (UVW) who are based at the V&A Museum will decide in the coming weeks whether or not they would like to take industrial action. The union said it is the first time the security guards, who are employed by a private contractor, are taking part in a strike ballot.
Petros Elia, general secretary of the United Voices of the World (UVW), remarked: "With the Victoria and Albert Museum security guards joining their colleagues from the Natural History and Science Museums, the dispute is escalating significantly and shows no signs of abating."
