Vacant Grimsby Riverhead buildings once home to popular bars is sold
The vacant Riverhead building in Grimsby town centre has been purchased by an unknown buyer.
After being scheduled to go up for sale earlier this month, with a guide price of between £500,000 and £600,000, the building has been sold for an unknown figure above the guide price.
The lot is made up of the five retail and leisure units that were built in the early 2000s, and the adjoining Imperial House, a six-storey office building that was previously occupied by HMRC but has now been vacant for a number of years.

In 2021, approval was granted by North East Lincolnshire Council to convert Imperial House into 24 self-contained residential flats. However, this was subject to the development being completed within three years.
The Riverhead building once occupied a range of hospitality and leisure businesses such as Chicago Rock Cafe, Walkabout, Yates and Wetherspoons, but has been completely vacant since the last occupants, Play XL and PureGym, closed their doors in February and March respectively.
Lawrence Brown, Managing Director at Scott's Property, told Grimsby Live: "I can confirm that a sale has been confirmed. It's now making its way through the legal process and I anticipate that in a short period of time, we'll start to see a few things happening there."
The sale comes in the wake of the revamp of Riverhead Square, which was completed this year following funding from the Government as part of the Town Deal.
Councillor Philip Jackson, Leader of the council, said previously: "It's great to see this scheme nearing completion. Since its approval in 2022, it's been exciting to see it come to life and the finished product is far better than I could have imagined.
"I've no doubt the Square will be a valuable asset to the community in the near future whether that be as a place to sit or as the location of an event.
"This is just the start of our plans as a Council to transform Grimsby town centre to attract families, visitors and businesses to our borough. We are determined to make this a place people enjoy coming to and feel safe doing so."
