Oscar de la Renta Does Denim and All the Best Looks From the Resort 2018 Shows So Far

Oscar de la Renta‘s new design duo, Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, injected some youth and humor into the Resort 2018 collection. A sequin, cheeky monkey wearing sunglasses and sipping a martini was everyone’s favorite print, as well as the banana leaf similar to the iconic wallpaper from the restaurant Indochine in New York City (fashion crowd’s favorite restaurant since the 80s!). In addition, denim is introduced, and with an Oscar de la Renta, you better believe this is denim at its softest and finest.

Speaking of comfort, Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Valentino Resort 2018 show in New York City on May 23 gave us all renewed energy for designers doing streetwear. A silk green tracksuit is the only thing we want to wear when we travel, while pink and red track pants paired with a fur coat is the Sunday-morning outfit of our dreams — and so are practically all the looks that Piccioli sent down the runway.

Inspired by the New York City hip-hop scene and working with Zandra Rhodes on some of the prints, Piccioli ensured the Valentino show something for everyone.

As for the other resort shows that have happened so far? The circuit reads more like the latest copy of Condé Nast Traveler, with Chanel’s Greek Revival at the Grand Palais in Paris, followed by Prada in Milan, Dior’s extravaganza in the Calabasas, Calif., desert, and Louis Vuitton near Kyoto, Japan.

So what of the fashion? Here are the best of the best from all the collections so far.
