Yahoo News Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder becomes the slayer in Netflix's V Wars trailer
Netflix has released the first official trailer for V Wars, a brand-new bloodsucker series starring The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder.
Somerhalder plays Dr Luther Swann, a scientist who enters a world of horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend Fayne into a (you guessed it) vampire.
The official synopsis for the show reads: "As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these 'vampires'.
"Swann races against time to understand what's happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires."
The ten-episode show is based on Jonathan Maberry's best-selling IDW graphic novels, and also stars Smallville's Laura Vandervoort, Beyond's Jacky Lai, The Whispers star Kyle Breitkopf and Kimberly-Sue Murray of Crimson Peak fame.
Back in August last year, Somerhalder gave us our first look at his character as he shared an image with his followers on Instagram.

Alongside a picture of him wearing a doctor's coat and showing off his bloody knuckles, he wrote: "Here he is... @drlutherswannofficial aka Dr Luther Swann. Would you trust this man?"
V Wars will be available to stream on Netflix from December 5.
