Van catches fire on A96 in Kintore as road closed while firefighters battle blaze
A van has caught fire on the A96 in Aberdeenshire during rush hour this morning, prompting the road to shut.
Firefighters rushed to the incident at around 7.50am on Tuesday (January 21), on the outskirts of Kintore on the A96 northbound towards Inverurie. Crews continue to work to extinguish the blaze.
No one was reported to have been injured in the incident. The road remains closed in both directions amid the ongoing incident.

Drivers have been urged to use alternative routes following the vehicle fire, with traffic currently being diverted through Kintore, leading to major congestion.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 7.49am on Tuesday, January 21, to reports of a van on fire on the A96 – South of Kintore.
"Operations Control immediately mobilised two appliances and specialist resources to the scene and firefighters are working to extinguish the fire.
"There were no reported casualties and crews remain on scene."
A statement from the Traffic Scotland reads: "CLOSED in both directions after Kintore due to a vehicle fire. Please #UseAltRoute at this time. More updates when we get them."
Police later confirmed the road reopened at around 1.30pm and that there were no injuries as a result of the blaze.
A statement read: "The A96 has now re-opened following a van on fire reported at 8am on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
"The road was closed at Broomhill Roundabout near Kintore for around five hours and re-opened at 1.30pm.
"There are no reported injuries and the fire was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. It is not being treated as a wilful fire."
