Van rips front wheel off after colliding with metal railing in Sandown

A VAN has collided with railings in Sandown, seeing its front wheel ripped off, and causing disruption to motorists heading in and out of the town this afternoon (Sunday, February 5).

Police were called at 3.18pm to reports of a collision on Sandown Road.

A van had been in collision with metal railings at the bottom of Lake Hill, on the corner of Sandown Road.

A spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said no injuries were reported.

The County Press has been told that a recovery operation, with a vehicle from Bartlett's Service Station has cleared the area.

Southern Vectis' routes 2, 3 and 8 are experiencing some delays as a result of the crash.
