This year has seen the return of many TV classics, with Gavin and Stacey, Little Britain and The Vicar of Dibley all returning to our screens.

Also making a comeback in 2020 is detective drama Van Der Valk.

That's right - the cynical Dutch detective Simon Van Der Valk is back with a brand new look and even more cases to crack.

When is Van Der Valk on TV?

The brand new series of Van Der Valk launches on Sunday, April 26 at 8pm on ITV.

Hustle star Marc Warren will play street-smart detected Simon Van Der Valk; the role was originally played by the late Barry Foster.

White House Farm actor Maimie McCoy plays Van Der Valk’s capable partner Lucienne Hassell, replacing the slightly dim-witted Inspecteur Johnny Kroon who played Van Der Valk’s assistant on the programme.

Unforgotten’s Emma Fielding, Informer’s Darrell D’Silva, and Ordeal by Innocence’s Frances Grey also feature, as well as Dutch actors Kees Boot and Reinout Bussemaker.

For those who didn’t watch the original series, Van Der Valk sees the detective solving mysteries around Amsterdam using his outstanding observation and analysis skills.

This new series, penned by Midsomer Murders writer Chris Murray, sees Van Der Valk back in Amsterdam investigating what initially appears to be two unconnected murders.
