Van forced off the road as police spot it 'nearly pulling a wheelie'
Officers forced a van off the road after its driver was clocked 'nearly pulling a wheelie'. Greater Manchester Police says the large white Mercedes-Benz van was posing a danger to other road users.
It first came to the attention of police when it was seen 'trundling along the motorway' on Thursday (September 5). Officers stopped the van just off the motorway and spoke to the driver.
They also checked the vehicle, and found the load it was carrying to be 'massively' over its weight limit. Data shared by GMP showed that the van was in excess of its weight limit by 68 per cent in one area, and 64 per cent overall.

This posed a risk on the road, affecting the van's brakes and steering. The van was banned from the road until the issue is fixed.
Meanwhile, the driver was also fined. A spokesperson for GMP Traffic posted on X: "Another danger taken off the road.
"Massively overweight, affecting the brakes and steering as nearly pulling a wheelie. Seen trundling along the motorway before #CVU dealt with him. Prohibited until rectified, driver issued roadside fines. #Saferroads"
