Vancouver Transit Worker Uses Hockey Stick to Remove Ice From Train Car

A transit worker in Vancouver, British Columbia, took a particularly Canadian approach to winter maintenance on January 15 when he used a hockey stick to dislodge ice built up on a SkyTrain car before his colleague sprayed the car with antifreeze.

Heavy snowfall dramatically affected the city’s public-transit system Wednesday, leading to such events as residents having to help push an early-morning bus up a snow-covered hill.

Over 50 Vancouver bus routes were affected by the snow, according to CTV, with TransLink referring to January 15 as an “extreme travel day,” advising commuters “to stay home where possible.” Credit: Barbara Szymczyk via Storyful
