Vandals cause thousands of pounds worth of damage after setting fire to bins in Lancaster
Vandals have caused almost £2,000 worth of damage after setting fire to bins across Lancaster.
Lancaster City Council have stated vandals have caused £1,600 of damage for setting fire to the recycling bins on St George's Quay in the city. As a result of the actions, these will now have to be replaced, but the money could have been spent on facilities important to the community.
Tetra Pak banks, a recycling site at Upper St Leonardgate Car Park, have also been targeted by fires.
If anyone has seen any suspicious activity around public bins or recycling banks, the council ask for this to be reported. Anyone with information on latest incidents of this nature can contact police on 101.
