Vanessa Feltz opens up about Philip Schofield’s TV return admitting ‘It’s a risk’
Vanessa Feltz is rooting for Phillip Schofield's TV comeback to be a "success", though she acknowledges it's a "risk". The veteran TV presenter, aged 62, has extended her well wishes to the former ' This Morning ' host as he prepares to star in Channel 5's new show 'Cast Away'.
In this unique programme, Schofield will find himself stranded on a desert island for 10 days with nothing but camera equipment and lip balm. Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Vanessa expressed her support: "I just think whatever he does to make him feel better, I wish him all the luck in the world."
She added that she hasn't seen the show yet, so she can't comment on how Schofield handles the isolation or whether the experience proves positive or negative.

She pointed out that any reality TV venture carries inherent risks, saying: "Any reality TV show anyone does is a risk, that's the whole point, you could come out brilliantly and everyone could fall in love with you and you could impress them to the max."
Despite the uncertainty, Vanessa remains hopeful for Schofield's success: "But he is a very seasoned TV professional, and I really hope that it's the right thing for him, and it does him the power of good, that he personally enjoys it and that the viewers enjoy it and that it makes him feel better and it makes everybody feel better. That's what I would like. I'd like it to be a success."
Schofield has been absent from our screens for the past 16 months following his departure from 'This Morning' and subsequently ITV, after confessing to an "unwise, but not illegal" affair with a younger male colleague. On 'Cast Away', he is anticipated to share more about his personal life post-'This Morning'.
Vanessa revealed she hasn't contacted Phillip since news of his TV comeback broke, explaining she doesn't want to "jump on the band wagon". She further commented: "I just think, don't jump on the band wagon of messaging, and I don't like it when people do that to me, and it happens to me a lot."
