VAR has come under scrutiny once again after Manchester United saw a goal controversially ruled out for offside during their FA Cup clash at Huddersfield.

Jose Mourinho’s side were 1-0 ahead at the break thanks to a third-minute Romelu Lukaku goal, but there was controversy late in the half.

Juan Mata thought he had made it two, but the 'goal' was referred to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

A series of wobbly lines were shown on the screen, with the decision eventually made to rule out the 'goal'.

Speaking on BT Sport at half-time, former United midfielder Paul Scholes said: "I don't even think a Huddersfield player was appealing for offside. It's very strange."
