A vegan kebab shop is coming to London

Being vegan can be pretty tough at the best of times, but never more so than after a night on the town.

While friends can easily nip off the nearest McDonald's or chicken shop after enjoying a drink (or six) late at night, vegans are often forced to go hungry due to the lack of meat and dairy-free options at hand.

That could all be about to change though, as it's been revealed that the UK’s first vegan kebab brand, What the Pitta, is planning to open a new flagship branch in Camden.

Opening on March 9, the new restaurant will offer a completely vegan kebab consisting of non-GMO soya chunks, freshly made bread, homemade hummus, soya tzatziki and salad.

The kebabs start at £7.95 and could be the ideal snack for vegan diners in north London.

Vegan diners in the know will be familiar with What the Pitta, as the chain currently hold outlets in the Croydon and Shoreditch Boxparks.

Co-Founder Cem Yildiz comments: "We are so proud that what started as little stall in Shoreditch has grown so quickly, and we’re now opening our third branch and continuing to provide good, tasty food with added health & environmental benefits to hungry Londoners."

He added: “We have found that a lot of our customers are meat reducers, rather than strict vegans, and it’s great to see more and more people becoming conscious of where their food is coming from."

Vegan dining in London has experienced a rise in popularity over recent times, and it was recently revealed that Brick Lane is also getting its first ever vegan curry menu.
