Vehicles trapped in A40 flooding as huge thunderstorms bring chaos to Gloucestershire
Torrential rain has brought chaos to Gloucestershire with roads flooding to a soundtrack of thunder and a light show of lightning. Thunderstorms rocked the county with the first sound of thunder around 3pm with the severe weather continuing into the evening.
On the A40 to the east of Cheltenham, flooding has seen vehicles stranded in Charlton Kings in both directions. The horrendous weather has caught out people near Dunkertons Farm Shop, as well as on the A435 Cirencester Road in Charlton Kings.
On the M5, motorists have been going at a snail's pace as the rain hit accompanied by the thunder and lightning. In the Oxford Road area of Kingsholm, flood water in the street was lapping at people's front doors while Rodney Road in Cheltenham also looked like a river.
