Vera ITV cast spotted at new Northumberland location after mass casting call

After the cast and crew had some well earned time off last week, production on the last ever series of Vera has now started up again, with eagle eyed residents spotting production vehicles at a brand new location.

While some fans are still absolutely gutted, the dust has now settled on the news that the much loved ITV drama is coming to an end after 14 years, with filming on the 14th and final season of Vera commencing just a week after the announcement was made on the show's future and lead actress Brenda Blethyn admitted she was sad to say cheerio to her famous TV alias.

The first place Brenda was spotted, alongside returning sidekick David Leon, was Cambois in Northumberland and it's another location in the county that has now been taken over by the Vera crew, as production vans were clocked in Stocksfield at the Hall Business Park. Over the years, Brenda and her co-stars have paid many visits to Northumberland, with filming taking place in all manner of different areas including the National Park, Cramlington, Amble and Hexham, with the market town having a starring role in the first episode of Vera series 13.

Locations used this time round include Blyth, Gateshead, South Shields and Hartlepool and it's already been confirmed that cameras will roll in Alnwick at the end of the month, with the cat let out the bag by way of a huge casting call, which appealed for over 30 extras to take part in a Pagan style parade in the town, before musicians were also sought for a cameo role on the same day of filming.

Vera series 14, consisting of just two episodes, is set to air on ITV in early 2025.
