He's a massive favourite amongst Vera fans and now they are calling on bosses to give Jon Morrison for more 'screen time' in the final series of the hit drama.

Already known to TV viewers for roles in the likes of The Bill and Taggart, Jon has been in the Vera cast since day one as Kenny Lockhart, a loyal members of the Northumberland & City Police team working under Brenda Blethyn's famous alias DCI Vera Stanhope. While never promoted to be her sidekick, Kenny is a trusted colleague of Vera's, with him being in the thick of the action over the last 13 years.

Vera made its ITV debut back in 2011 with pilot episode Hidden Depths, but now viewers are having to come to terms with the fact that the end is nigh for the much loved show, after the broadcaster announced earlier this year that it will wrap up next year, with its 14th and final series consisting of just two episodes.

Cameras rolled on those from May to July and, having not been spotted by onlookers when Brenda and co-star David Leon filmed in the likes of Blyth, Gateshead and Hartlepool, Jon's return to the cast for series 14 was finally confirmed, when he was seen alongside Brenda and others in one of the final filming locations, the village of Glanton in Northumberland.

The reaction to Jon being on set is testament to how highly regarded he is by Vera viewers and now, posting in an online fan group, some say he deserves more screen time. Sharing a photo of Jon in his role, one wrote: "Does anybody else put me wish They would give Kenny a little bit more storyline? I think more interaction between him and Vera would be entertaining.."

And the comments underneath suggests plenty of others share the same sentiments, with one fan responding: "Yes! Definitely more on-screen time for Kenny. He is capable of handling it" and another reacting: "Agree, love Kenny!"
