ITV Vera's Rhiannon Clements 'unsure' of spin-off for hit drama as return confirmed

Rhiannon Clements has said she is 'unsure' if there will be a Vera spin-off, after talk from fans that there should be one, once the hit drama has come to an end next year.

There was sad news for the legions of Vera fans across the world in April, when ITV bosses announced that series 14, which is currently nearing the end of its filming, will be the last ever one, with Vera wrapping up after 14 years on screen, The Vera cast has seen plenty of changes over the years, with the exit and subsequent return of David Leon and the departure of fans favourites like Cush Jumbo, Paul Kaye and, more recently, Kenny Doughty.

One of the big bits of casting news for series 13, which aired on ITV earlier this year, was Rhiannon joining as Steph Duncan, having been most famous for playing villain Summer Ranger in Hollyoaks a few years ago. Steph joined the ranks of Northumbria & City Police as a new recruit to DCI Sttanhope's team and Rhiannon was an immediate hit with viewers at home.

There has been some uncertainty over her Vera future, given she hasn't been spotted filming any scenes so far, but she will be back for series 14 and has also had her say on whether or not there will be a spin-off, with some fans arguing that David's character Joe Ashworth could lead it.

Speaking to ChronicleLive about the possibility of the Vera story not being done and dusted, Rhiannon said: "I don’t know, but Vera is such a fantastic thing to be apart of with an equally fantastic cast and crew, I’ve loved every second and feel so lucky to have been brought onboard and welcomed into the team. "

Vera series 14 is set to air on ITV in early 2025, with filming locations visited by the cast this time round including Blyth, Gateshead, Hartlepool, South Shields and Glanton, the Northumberland village where the cast were this week.
