Vic Reeves lands three-month role in “favourite” soap Coronation Street
Vic Reeves is set to join the cast of Coronation Street for a three-month stint this summer.
The comedian, 58, has revealed that he has been offered a new role on the Weatherfield cobbles, after being a “lifelong” fan of the soap.
“I've been a lifelong fan of Corrie. In fact, I think I saw the very first one. I try not to miss any episodes,” he said on Monday.
“I'm really looking forward to acting in Corrie. It's a real thrill to be part of a British Institution.”

Reeves – real name Jim Moir – follows in the footsteps of fellow comedians Peter Kay, Paddy McGuinness and Norman Wisdom.
Coronation Street Executive Producer Kieran Roberts said: "Jim is such a well-loved entertainer and a brilliant actor so we're thrilled he's joining the cast of Coronation Street."
Reeves will play a TV presenter who comes to Weatherfield to film a new show, interacting with characters Norris Cole and Mary Taylor.
He is expected to start filming his three-month stint in July, with his first scenes set to air later in the summer.
Reeves and comedy partner Bob Mortimer are set to revive the stage show that sparked their 30-year comedy collaboration.
A one-off special edition will of Big Night Out will be a “reimagining” of the original will air on BBC2 later this year.
