Vicar of Dibley star Emma Chambers dies aged 53
The Vicar of Dibley star Emma Chambers has sadly passed away aged 53.
According to a statement from her agency (via BBC News), the actress died of natural causes and will be "greatly missed".
"Emma created a wealth of characters and an immense body of work," the statement continued. "She brought laughter and joy to many".
Chambers was perhaps best known for playing the role of Alice Tinker in the Dawn French BBC comedy series The Vicar of Dibley.
She also starred in Notting Hill as Honey Thacker and a 1994 adaptation of Charles Dickens' Martin Chuzzlewit as Charity Pecksniff.
She is survived by her husband, actor Ian Dunn.
Chambers was born in Doncaster and started out her acting career in shows such as The Bill before starring in The Vicar of Dibley.
Chambers' character in the comedy was known for her dim-witted nature and shared many of the series' funniest scenes with French's vicar Geraldine Granger.
She also appeared in comedy series Drop The Dead Donkey, and her last formal acting credit is the 2003 TV show Little Robots.
Since the sad news broke, a number of people have paid tribute online:

Emma Chambers who played Alice in The Vicar of Dibley has passed away. So so sad. She was only 53 which is no age at all. Growing up, I always remember the jokes she'd tell the end of each episode.
