Vicious dog attack in Clydebank leaves pensioner in hospital and her small pet injured

Police are appealing for information after a vicious dog attack in Clydebank left a pensioner in hospital.

The incident happened on Thursday, September 19 at around 3pm. The 81-year-old woman and her dog were walking close to the junction of Beeches Road and Beeches Avenue in Clydebank when they were approached by a larger dog described as being light and dark brown in colour.

The dog launched an attack on the smaller dog, and when the woman attempted to separate them, she was also bitten on the leg.

The larger dog and its owner then left the area, walking in the direction of Beeches Avenue and Carleith Avenue.

The elderly woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment and her dog also required treatment from a vet.

Police Scotland is now appealing to the public in a bid to trace the owner and dog responsible.

Anyone who witnessed what happened, or who may have information that could help identify the owner of the dog responsible, is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2320 of Thursday, 19 September, 2024.
