A vicious and cowardly thug attacked another man so violently that his victim lost consciousness. Colin Loss, from South Street in St Austell, assaulted a man in the town on September 2, 2023, by punching him from behind.

When his victim was on the ground, Loss also kicked him so hard that he suffered a loss of consciousness.

51-year-old Loss pleaded guilty to one offence of ABH at Bodmin Magistrates Court on October 14 this year. He was spared jail but received a 24-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and was ordered to pay his victim £750 in compensation, court costs of £85 and the standard victim surcharge of £154.

The magistrates said: "The reason for this sentence is the vicious forceful assault. This was an attack from behind where you punched and kicked your victim whilst he was on the floor, which led to the loss of consciousness."
