Victor Orta out to hit Leeds United transfer plans with latest move

Leeds United have been tracking Fluminense forward Jhon Arias for the best part of 12 months having first been linked with the player at the end of last summer's transfer window. A long term target, the Whites had been linked with making a move this summer for the versatile 26-year-old Colombian forward.

Arias has been in terrific form in helping Colombia reach the semi-finals of Copa American this summer with his side set to come up against Marcelo Bielsa's Uruguay in the last four. That may have become an issue, however, with the £12m transfer fee that has previously been reported as needed to lure him to England, looking like it could rise significantly, even more so with a number of clubs now circling the player.

West Ham are understood to have expressed their interest, while Win Sports now say Victor Orta's Sevilla are expected to make a bid for the player, with the former Leeds United man going up against his old club in trying to lure the player to Spain.

Arias is a strong and agile attacker who can play on either wing, as well as at centre-forward or as a number 10, and offers a threat in the air despite his 5'7" stature. The versatile and dynamic attacker has showed his worth in some of the more premier competitions he has featured in, scoring in the semi-finals of this seasons Club World Cup before suffering defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the final, Arias was previously part of the historic Fluminense side that won the clubs first ever Copa Libertadores in 2021.
