Victoria's Secret model Martha Hunt on why 'fearless and carefree' London is the fashion capital

LONDON was hailed for its “fearless and carefree” attitude to fashion as Tate Modern was transformed for a star-studded party.

Victoria’s Secret model Martha Hunt said the capital was an “exciting place for fashion” and at the forefront of design.

The model, 28, was speaking last night at the Michael Kors fragrance launch party, hosted at the art gallery on South Bank.

James Bond actress Naomie Harris, Olympian Tom Daley and his husband, the screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, joined Kors at the launch of the perfume, called Sexy Ruby.

Hunt said: “The young culture in London is always evolving and young people aren’t afraid to express themselves here which makes it an exciting place for fashion.”

The model, who has appeared on the covers of major magazines such as Vogue China and Harper’s Bazaar, added: “So many more people are interested in doing shows, parties or events in London and it’s really on the forefront of creativity in what’s next in fashion. I really admire London for being fearless and carefree.”

Soo Joo Park, 31, who joined fellow model Edita Vilkeviciute at the event, added: “London has always been one of the big cities of fashion capitals. It really supports young designers and that’s really exciting.”

The event came on the heels of London Fashion Week, which hosted 85 catwalk shows and 33 events including shows from international designers Tommy Hilfiger and Armani.

The new Michael Kors fragrance is said to be inspired by “strong-willed women”.

Speaking about confidence, Hunt said: “Sexy is confidence and diversity. It’s more than just being physically beautiful, it’s about emoting confidence and also being informed about what’s going on in the world and having an opinion.

“More strong women are being represented in the fashion industry and I love that, women are now using their voices and platforms like social media more.”
