Victoria Beckham's own enviable sense of style has long provided a muse for her successful clothing line.

On the final day of London Fashion Week, the celebrity designer unveiled her latest VVB collection modelling a parody slogan t-shirt emblazoned with 'It’s a dark but happy place'.

"People ask me why am I always wearing sunglasses and this is what I tell them,” joked Beckham, who also referenced the ‘Fashion stole my smile’ statement tee she was pictured in last year. “This is me poking fun at myself and I think VVB should always have that element of fun about it."

Offering a cool, casual counterpart to her polished mainline collection, this season’s diffusion line was inspired by a trip to the recent Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition and featured polaroids of the iconic street artist developed into a new print which appeared on loose day dresses and silk shirts.

Paperbag-waist tailored trousers, sunbleached oversized denim shirts and butter-soft blanket coats were also highlights in a collection dedicated to comfort dressing.

“I always say VVB is the other side of my wardrobe, the other part of my suitcase,” added Victoria, who namechecked a sky-blue jumbo cord trouser suit among her favourite pieces in this collection.

The presentation in the intimate setting of Mayfair’s exclusive Mark’s Club comes less a fortnight after Beckham staged her AW18 ready-to-wear catwalk show in New York.

"It never stops, as soon as one collection is finished you start on the next one,” said Beckham, who added she has already begun scouting for a location for her homecoming London show in September to celebrate the brand’s tenth anniversary.

With the task of designing eight collections a year under her very stylish belt, the mum-of-four's hectic schedule has also influenced a more relaxed approach to dressing, both in her work and her own wardrobe.

“I used to wear lots of tight, tailored dresses, but now I’m much more about wardrobe staples and nothing too complicated. I like to keep things simple.” As a result, ribbed knits in this collection were fit to hug the body without being restrictive, while pleated skirts were cut with a fluid, easy silhouette in mind.

Of course, the demands on Beckham’s time are about to get even greater with the much publicised return to the girl band which launched her career. Of the reunion, Beckham said; “for me, it’s not about something tangible. It’s not about the five of us going on tour or recording any more material. It’s about thinking about what girl power means in the future. It’s about protecting the legacy and passing that message on to future generations."
