Watch: 'Oh God': BBC News' Victoria Derbyshire rushes to camera after shoe mishap

Victoria Derbyshire was left a little flustered when she ended up being late to present the BBC news because she couldn’t get her high heels on.

The 9am bulletin started with the camera panning across the newsroom and the broadcaster, 52, could be seen bent over struggling to strap on her shoes.

“Oh my God!” she was heard exclaiming as she wrestled with her stilettos.

Her shoes finally on, Derbyshire then got into place and apologised to viewers.

“Sorry about that delay, good morning,” she said, before she swiftly started to deliver the news.

Viewers were intrigued about the wardrobe malfunction and started pondering it on Twitter.

And when one person asked the star about the mishap, she replied: “Oh God, I couldn’t get my very high heels on.”

Derbyshire also shared a snap of the stilettos, which were black with tassles on the back.

Fans were thoroughly amused, with many posting messages on Twitter saying it gave them a good "chuckle”.

“This is the best news today!” posted one.

“Go for flatter shoes Victoria. Also better for your feet,” one viewer suggested.

Fellow journalist Samira Ahmed chimed in: “I can personally testify that the phenomenon (and associated hazards) of female presenters putting on very high heeled ‘TV shoes’ just to 'walk' a handful of steps around the studio floor is a real thing.

"VERY nice shoes, btw, Victoria.”
