ITV period drama Victoria already boasts a pretty impressive cast, but has just upped it even more by adding Dame Diana Rigg for series two.

She'll be a regular cast member and will play the Duchess of Buccleuch, the young Queen Victoria's new Mistress of the Robes, who is renowned for speaking her mind.

The BAFTA-winning actress currently plays Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones, another character who's not exactly shy with her opinions, so she should do fine in the new role.

So what else do we know about the upcoming second series?

Well, it will pick up six weeks after the first ended and will see Queen Victoria face the new challenge of motherhood as well as the responsibilities of her 'job'.

We've also been treated to some sneak pictures of some of the cast and new sets recently, to get us even more excited for the new instalments.

Some official snaps - and one other shared by Jenna Coleman on Instagram - are our first real look at the upcoming episodes, after a sneaky Twitter teaser gave us a tiny glimpse into the revamped palace to mark the beginning of filming.

Series two will comprise eight episodes again, as well as an epic two-hour Christmas special.

Victoria returns to ITV in the UK later this year. In the US, the series airs on PBS.
