Video: Joe Sugg reveals why he signed up for 'Strictly Come Dancing'

26-year-old YouTuber Joe Sugg has been revealed as the 4th contestant for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Brother to fellow YouTube star Zoella, Sugg has over 25 million social media followers and over eight million of those are just on YouTube alone.

Sugg, known as ‘ThatcherJoe‘ on YouTube, revealed in his latest video why he signed up for the popular BBC dancing competition show. He said he hoped it would be a “big confidence builder” as despite his online fame he is “quite a shy person in real life.”

He said prior to signing up to Strictly he wrote a list of the pros and cons and that the “pros massively outweighed the cons.” In addition to hoping the show would “push me out of my comfort zone” he also said he hoped it will help him get fit.

And Strictly fans needn’t be concerned that Sugg has any kind of dance background or training as he admitted: “I’m not a dancer. I probably dance like a tree. Like a plank of wood!”

He said the only major con he is worried about is the “lack of social time” and that he might not get to see his mates as much.

So far the only other 2018 Strictly Come Dancing contestants revealed are Capital FM DJ Vick Hope, Red Dwarf actor Danny John-Jules, Steps singer Faye Tozer and TV presenter and former model Katie Piper.

Strictly will return to BBC One at the end of August, with the first competition episode predicted to air Saturday 1st September.
