Wearing masks, they confront him as he opens the boot of the hatchback then bundle him into bushes in his garden, where he's pinned down by one as the other jumps into the car. The victim was followed to his house and the footage shows a neighbour running to help as the Golf is driven away.

Police said the man wasn't seriously injured, but felt so unsafe in the aftermath that he's now moved to live in a different part of the country.

In an exclusive interview with the Manchester Evening News the now 66 year-old said: "It completely changed my life. The video still has a real impact on me when I watch it.

"It was one of the main reasons why I moved away to the other side of the country. I could not escape it. I could not forget it. I am a lot better now. The police have been great and I am glad he's behind bars."

The man - 64 at the time - told how he heard a noise behind him as he parked up. He'd been helping a friend renovate a building before driving home. "I turned around and the next thing I know I was in the garden with a man on top of me," he said.

Police said Camp, and others, went on a 'ruthless spree of offending'. Over the space of just seven weeks, he was said to have been involved in 15 different burglaries across Greater Manchester.

Camp, 27, from Moston, Manchester, pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary, six counts of theft, six counts of robbery and two counts of handling stolen goods. At Manchester Crown Court on Friday, he was jailed for 14 years and four months.

In another incident, a man was woken up in the early hours inside his home by a man in a black mask holding a knife who demanded keys. Police said he was 'dragged from his bed' and forced to wake his brother up for keys to a BMW.

In July 2023, seven teenagers were convicted of a string of burglary and thefts across Greater Manchester and Cheshire under Operation Napoleon. Camp was identified by GMP's Serious Organised Crime Group through that investigation.

A mobile phone belonging to one of the seven convicted provided evidence linking him to Camp.

On December 28, 2021, a car was stolen from a drive on Boardale Avenue in Moston. Eleven days later, it was recovered by police on Thornley Close, Grotton, Oldham, on false number plates. Police seized a snood inside with DNA subsequently linking it to Camp.

Hours later, at around 3am, Camp and others targeted a house on Granby Street in Chadderton. The victim, a man, was awake and praying at the time. he saw a man in a balaclava looking through his window with two others armed with knives.

The man in the CCTV footage was targeted in June, 2022 in Uppermill, Oldham.

Days later, Camp threatened a man sat in his blue Seat Leon Cupra on Hillcrest Road in Rochdale, saying he would hurt him if he didn't hand over the keys. Police said Camp sent a picture of the stolen Seat from a social media account just 18 minutes later.

Four other car thefts were detailed by police.

In another of the incidents, in Droylsden, Tameside, Camp took a video of a BMW X4 M-Sport he took after a house break-in and sent it to people on social media.

Camp was arrested at a kebab shop in Longsight in July, 2023. Specialist detectives worked to piece together a timeline placing Camp at each and every incident.

Detective Constable Chris Chinnery, from GMP's Serious Organised Crime Group, said: "Kyle Camp’s crimes not only had significant financial implications for the victims, but most distressingly, they also had huge emotional impacts. Victims were either violently assaulted or threatened with weapons by Camp.

"One man was left feeling so unsafe that he felt he had no choice but to move to a different part of the country.

"This case involved hours of meticulous searching through mobile phone evidence and tracing messages involving numerous people, across multiple phones and social media channels. Camp bragged about his stolen cars, showing complete disregard the victims."
