2nd Escaped Inmate Taken to Albany Hospital After Capture

New York State Police shot and captured the last of two escaped inmates less than two miles from the Canadian border on June 28. David Sweat was located in Constable by Sgt Jay Cook, who then pursued and shot him when Sweat would not stop. Sweat was taken to the hospital in Malone and was in stable condition, according to local media. He was expected to be transported to Albany Medical Center. This video shows Sweat being transported to Albany.

Richard Matt, the other of the two escaped inmates, was shot and killed near Malone on June 26, three weeks after he and Sweat escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora.

The duo cut through their cells with power tools before climbing through a series of pipes and tunnels. They made their final escape through a manhole. They left dummies in their bunks, and guards did not notice they were missing for several hours. Two prison employees have been arrested in connection to their escape. Credit: Twitter/Abigail Collins
