Activists and Family of Mazen Darwish Talk About His Disappearance

Syrian activists groups reported on August 10 that journalist and founder of the Syrian Media Center Mazen Darwish, who was abducted by the Syrian government in 2012, was released. In an interview by Front Line Defender, an NGO that support activists at risk, Darwish’s wife as well as Syrian activists Razzan Ghazawi and Nawara Mahfoud describe Darwirsh, the conditions of his disappearance and subsequent detention.

Yara Badr, Darwish’s wife and fellow journalist at the Syrian Media Center which he founded, said his belief in change stemmed from “a belief in human dignity”. Recordings of Mazen Darwish in English are also included in the video. Credit: YouTube/Front Line Defenders
