Actor Gérard Depardieu Scythes Grass With Belarusian President

French actor Gérard Depardieu was in Ozerny, north of Minsk, on July 22, where he met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. The pair held informal talks regarding agricultural support and the development of technologies in growing eco-friendly food products. Lukashenko gave Depardieu a tour of his official residence in Ozerny, while also giving the 66-year-old a lesson in scything.

Following the tour, Depardieu said, “Some people have created negative cliches about Belarus. Of course, every country has its problems. Here I see farms, fields, meadows, forests. Belarus resembles, for me, Little Switzerland.” Credit: President of the Public of Belarus
