Alaska National Guard Helicopter Crews Battle Brush Fires

Two Alaska Army National Guard helicopters flew 200 bucket missions, dumping more than 144,000 gallons of water onto Stetson Creek Fire on the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska, on Wednesday, June 17. The UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters used a “Bambi Bucket” to fight the blaze. The fire, one of several burning in Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula, was reported to state troopers just after 6 p.m. Tuesday night.
