Ancient Mammoth Unearthed in Michigan Farmer's Field

The remains of a mammoth unearthed in a Michigan farmer’s field could provide new information on the activity of early humans in the area, experts at the University of Michigan have said. The remains of the animal, thought to be 11,700-15,000 years old, show “evidence of human activity.”

“We think that humans were here and may have butchered and stashed the meat so that they could come back later for it,” said paleontologist Daniel Fisher. Credit: University of Michigan
