Aung San Suu Kyi Casts Ballot in Myanmar's Elections

Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi cast her ballot in Myanmar’s elections on Sunday, November 8. The elections are the country’s first to be openly contested in 25 years. The military-backed Union Solidarity Development Party is going head-to-head with Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy, though she is barred from assuming the presidency in the event of a victory.

Concerns have been raised about the legitimacy of the elections in which hundreds of thousands – including the minority Rohingya Muslim group – have been denied voting rights. Credit: MCN Online TV
