Authorities Perform Medical Checks on Bangladeshi Refugees in Indonesia

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) welcomed on May 20 a joint commitment by Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand to work to resolve the issue of refugees, many of them Rohingya Muslims, fleeing by boat from Bangladesh and Myanmar. “This is an important initial step in the search for solutions to this issue, and vital for the purpose of saving lives,” said a statement released by the UNHCR.
