Ban Ki-Moon Welcomes Pope Francis to United Nations

Pope Francis arrived at the United Nations on September 25 where he was greeted by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Upon his arrival, he greeted and spoke to UN staff members and toured the United Nations headquarters before addressing the General Assembly.

Francis’s speech at the United Nations was one part of a full schedule in New York on September 25. He also was scheduled to visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum to participate in an interfaith service, greet the faithful in Central Park and celebrate Mass at Madison Square Garden.

The pope’s six-day trip is his first to the United States. He visited the White House and addressed Congress while he was in Washington, D.C. He wraps up his trip in Philadelphia with an appearance at the World Meeting of Families. Credit: YouTube/United Nations
