Black Lives Matter Activists Occupy Minneapolis Police Precinct

Black Lives Matter activists occupied the Minneapolis Police’s fourth precinct headquarters on November 16, seeking answers in the shooting of Jamar Clark. Clark was shot early Sunday during a struggle with police, and activists say he was unarmed and handcuffed at the time of the shooting. Clark’s family told The Star Tribune that Clark is brain dead and they’re waiting to remove him from life support.

Black Lives Matter Minneapolis has occupied the atrium of the building, blocking the entrance with an encampment, according to local media. The organization also released a series of demands that include seeing footage of the shooting and an independent investigation.

The police said their initial investigation showed that Clark was not handcuffed at the time of the shooting. Police responded to an assault in which Clark was the suspect, according to the news report, and Clark interfered with emergency responders tending to the victim. The shooting is under investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Credit: Facebook/Black Lives Matter Minneapolis
