From Bosé to Kanye: this week's gossip

This year’s prestigious Latin Grammy Person of the Year award has gone to Spanish-Italian artist Miguel Bosé for his significant contribution to Latin Music.

The 57-year old singer and actor has recorded more than 30 albums and also appeared in more than 35 films, including Pedro Almodovar’s iconic “High Heels”. Many of his albums have received platinum status throughout Latin America, Spain and Europe. He also dedicates a lot of his time to social and environmental causes.

The Award was handed out in Las Vegas during the Latin Grammy Week, which precedes the annual Latin Grammy Awards ceremony.

“This award is the highest achievement for an artist. It’s an award handed out by your own Academy, by people who do the same job as you. It rewards Bosé for his music, his career, but it also rewards Miguel the person, which fills me with joy,” said Miguel Bosé.

In his last album “Papitwo”, a follow-up to his successful 2007 album “Papito”, Bosé continues collaborations with high-profile artists like Oscar-winning actress Penelope Cruz.

This year, in addition to his music, Bosé is being honored for his personal involvement in developing musical education for underprivileged youths and raising HIV-AIDS awareness.

People magazine has spoken: Adam Levine is the “sexiest man alive”. The 37-year-old American singer-songwriter is best known as the lead vocalist of pop rock band “Maroon 5”.

He received his trophy with humour: “This award actually means everything to me… becoming this cool, confident and seductive has been quite a journey,” he said.

A judge on the reality TV show The Voice, Levine also enjoys considerable mainstream success with his band, with hits like “Makes Me Wonder” and “Moves Like Jagger”.

And the public knew they were in for a treat when Kanye West promised a smoking hot appearance from wife-to-be Kim Kardashian in the video for his love song “Bound 2”.

But the rapper’s latest video does not appeal to everyone’s taste apparently – its premiere on the Ellen show received more dislikes than likes on Youtube.

Directed by fashion photographer Nick Knight, the video – featuring a topless Kardashian riding with West on a motorbike against a Grand Canyon backdrop – has divided fans, leaving many wondering whether it is all a joke.

What’s for sure is the buzz surrounding it is certain to propel Kardashian to even higher stratospheric levels of stardom.
